Plain Language Summary

# Restoring Military Focus Act Summary **What the Bill Does:** This bill would eliminate the position of Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Advisors for Diversity and Inclusion within the Department of Defense (DOD) and military departments. It would also prevent the DOD from using federal funds to create similar positions in the future. Essentially, it removes diversity and inclusion leadership roles from the military's organizational structure. **Who It Affects:** The bill directly affects current and future employees holding these specific positions within the DOD and military branches.

Indirectly, it could impact recruitment, workplace policies, and programs related to diversity initiatives in the military. The broader military workforce and defense operations could be affected depending on how diversity-focused programs are structured. **Current Status:** The bill is currently in committee (not yet voted on by the full House). It was introduced by Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) and aligns with recent executive orders signed by President Trump in January 2025 that directed the elimination of federal diversity, equity, and inclusion programs government-wide, including specifically within the Department of Defense.
