Plain Language Summary

# Farm to Fly Act of 2025 - Plain Language Summary **What It Does:** This bill would direct the U.S. Department of Agriculture to support the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF)—cleaner alternatives to traditional jet fuel used in airplanes. The bill would expand existing USDA bioenergy programs (which already support renewable energy projects) to specifically include sustainable aviation fuel as an eligible advanced biofuel. This means farms and companies producing SAF could potentially access government support and incentives currently available for other renewable fuels. **Key Details:** The bill sets specific requirements for what qualifies as sustainable aviation fuel under the program: it must meet international standards, be made from acceptable plant-based sources (excluding palm oil and petroleum), and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% compared to conventional jet fuel.

This ensures only genuinely sustainable fuels receive support. The bill essentially creates a pathway for agricultural producers to participate in the aviation fuel market while supporting environmental goals. **Status:** The bill was introduced by Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) and is currently in committee review, meaning it has not yet been debated or voted on by the full Senate. No action has been taken since its introduction.
